Public BBQ

A spacious lakeside camping area in Lake Eildon country, with pre-built fire places, flushing toilets kept surprisingly clean, and a short walk down to the water. Book and pay online through Parks Victoria. The showers are gone - they were advertised for years and have since been removed, so plan without one - and there is no potable water either, so bring your own. Barbecuing is confined to the communal areas, and fires are allowed only in the pits, which sit closer to the lake than to the sites. Bring levellers for a van; flat ground is scarce and the sites sit close together with little privacy. No dogs at all, which is why kangaroos and birds wander through so freely. The lake looks good from a distance but the water carries a lot of silt, so swimming is not really on. Signage around the place is falling apart.

Generally No! The BBQs are first come, first serve. However, if you plan on having a larger event then please check with Murrindindi council.

Aussie public BBQs are simple to use. Majority of sites listed on this website are gas or electric BBQs. Simply press the button and it will turn on for a set amount of time (10-20 minutes).

You should first check with Murrindindi council about the rules and restrictions.

Generally, it is permissible to utilize your own gas BBQ, provided it remains under continuous supervision. However, the usage of Charcoal BBQ's is typically restricted, with the exception of parks equipped with designated charcoal disposal bins.
